A Woman Once Known

Sh…

shh…

shhhe was told she was too bold and too cold.

Sh…

shh…

shhhe was told to sit down, look down, lie down.

Sh…

shh…

shhhe was told to stay in her vase, out of the race, in one place.

Sh…

shh…

shhhe was told to cover up, mother up, offer it all up.

But she wouldn’t fold in their hold. She knew she was made of gold.
